Job interview 17/f

Question Posted Sunday February 22 2009, 8:10 pm

So, I live in NY and I have an interview for a summer job soon. I have NEVER been on any kind of interview, and I am SOOO the nervous type. What should i be prepared for? What are the do's and dont's? All kinds of tips are appreciated! And if it helps, the job I'm applying to is for a summer camp daycare type thing for toddlers. Thanks in advance!

Flirty :]

Dress nice! That includes wearing a smile! :) haha

Well, their going to ask questions like Why do you want this job? What are your grades? Probably if you'll have time during the summer. Since it's dealing with kids, probably questions about what kind of person you are. Dealing with kids means a lot of patience is needed. So ask your self "How would my teachers, friends, parents, describe me?" That might be a question they ask ;)

Ok well first of all, DON'T be flirty. It will seem unprofreesional and thats an quick turn off. Make sure you dress professional (button blouse, slacks, nice shoes). Also call your employer Mr or Ms. (or Mrs.) to show respect unless they tell you that you can call them by their first name. When your being interviewed, don't talk about your personal life. Just answer their questions without too much detail and seem confident like your ready for the job and that you CAN do it. If you know you did something stupid, then just apoligize and try to forget about it. Your interviewer knows your nervious. Oh and also seem happy. I mean this is a daycare your applying for. Seem like you would make it a fun time for the little ones! :^) I hope this helps at all. Your interview will go great!

As they say you can't take back a first impression. This being said, I find it important to dress proper for an interview. This lets the interviewer know that you have taken the time to dress well and appear nice and fresh. Do your makeup with light shades and donn't overdo the mascara. If you have long hair, try styling it up and out of your face.
Next, since you are applying for a job in a summer camp working with toddlers, go on the internet and do research on this age group.Your interviewer is likely going to ask you questions about toddlers and it would be best for you to know some information on toddler behaviour. Your interviewer might very well ask you questions about how will you deal with the parents of these toddlers. Your answer should be that you will remain calm at all times, let the parent talk and reply in a positive and polite manner.
The other person that answered was right about looking the interviewer in the face while they speak with you and while you speak to them. This shows your interest in what they are saying.
Be open and honest about yourself. If you tell them you have taken the time to research toddler behaviour they will be impressed with you.
If I can help you with more tips, let me know and GOOD LUCK. Let me know if you get the job. You go girl!

Be Yourself! Don't lie about anything like persoanllity or don't go out of your way to say you are really organized and a hard working if your not. Don't stress your weak points. Always make eye contact! Firm hand shake, always wear a smile, and have fun with it. Act like you have done this a million times before even if you havn't! Now what to expect... Lots of questions.. What do you think your weakness are, your strenghts, how do you work under pressure, those types of things. Good Luck and relax!!!!
