Writing... Ok, so I've always written different. Always. I learned to hold my pencil differently then others. I used to think it was pretty neat, writing all different and stuff. Well about a year or two ago, when I started drawing seriously, I noticed that my hand smudges EVERYTHING! I write with my pencil sitting on top of my ring finger. Over time, I guess it created an indention because the end of that finger is pressed inwards. My middle and pointer finger aren't necassarily on top of the pencil, but they just are on the side, helping guide it. Then my thumb wraps around my pencil and presses down on my pointer. Well, that leaves the rest of my hand to just lie there, on top of my paper so that anytime I run my hand over it because I'm writing or whatever, lead gets ALL OVER the side of my hand and smudges it and it's terrible! D; I know what the "normal" way to write is, but it just feels weird to me :( is there anything I can do to prevent smudging but still write and draw comfortably? Thanks!

You should talk to your teacher or hunt online for a teaching supply store near you. They sell a plastic item that is usually the shape of a triangle that slides into position so you always grip the pencil correctly. There's at least seven different kinds you can get which allow you to write small, do artwork etc. They call it a Pencil Grip.
In Canada they have a store called Scholar's Choice (formerly Moyers) that you can purchase it from online. I don't know if they ship to America or not. Google them and see about that. It may not feel natural at first but if you continually use the device it will become so. It should improve your artwork and get rid of smudges. ]
This is going to sound silly at first, but bear
with me and just try it, and you'll see why I
suggest it.
Try applying rubbing alcohol, vinegar, peroxide,
or something with astringent qualities to the area
of your hand that's smudging everything, and also
loosening your grip slightly of the writing medium.
It'll help a little. ]
