Question Posted Wednesday February 18 2009, 5:13 pm
i used to cut myself when i was depressed but im not depressed anymore and i havent been for awhile but i havent been able to stop cutting, or burning myself sometimes i do it just cause i feel like i have to in order to be okay for the rest of the day or to go to sleep. i just do it on my hips because i dont want anyone to see. but i want to stop wanting to cut or burn and i feel like im never going to be able to stop.
NOBODY will blame you for any of this or make you feel bad or even miserable. The adults you approach may be shocked at first but when it comes to your parents, teachers, clergy etc. they'll always give you support and not judgment. They can get you the help you need.
Proper care from a psychiatrist who can treat the illness and provide medication if need be is required. Cutting is linked to several mental health issues and can be stopped with professional help.
Again, I KNOW you don't want to do this because it's hard but you need to if you genuinely want to stop. Think about it what's worse the cutting or being brave and getting help for it? When it comes to this you have to want it more than your next breath or equally as much. You can tell people in a letter even. The illness thrives off of you not taking action. That's how it has worked on you the victim in all this and trapped you. Don't let it have the power anymore. [ solidadvice4teens's advice column | Ask solidadvice4teens A Question ]

It's going to be really hard to stop cutting and burning yourself but your really only hurting yourself. Just try to find a different way to vent. Get involved in something when you want to cut or burn. Distract yourself. It really helps. Or possibly if your parents or legal guardian is understanding tell them about it. Be vague about it and go see a shrink. They make you cry a lot but it really helps. :)
Good luck to you.
I hope the very best.
I'll be praying for you.
Try to learn about jesus.
HE really can be a big help.

Then technically, you already don't want to.
Having this identified, it would be clear that
its continuance would only suggest alternative
motives behind your actions.
