Job at 14

Question Posted Saturday June 6 2009, 4:21 pm

I think my parents may be running out of money, and I may need a job. My older sister is too lazy to go get one. Do you know any jobs near New Jersey that hire 14 year old girls? (Please don't put babysitting/lawnmowing/pet sitting)

Thanks!!

So basically you're asking us to not give you the only options you have? That's pretty stupid.

In all honesty, not many places will hire at 14. Some places hire at 15, but not many. The usual age to legally work is 16 & up. Some places won't hire kids until they're 18, so you're pretty much out of luck until you reach one of those ages.

For now, your best bet is babysitting, lawn mowing & pet sitting whether you like it or not. Deal because you don't have a choice.

I couldn't find any jobs either! I looked all over the internet for jobs, I applied to like 20 too, but everyone said I was too young (im 15)
Then I looked up how to make money online? on google and found that [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) is a good site. The first month I thought it was a scam, then I found out that it wasn't when I got my check in the mail ;)
I proved my mom wrong! haha , and you only have to me 13 to join, once it said that, i was all for it!
Good luck, if you need any help starting out (it might be a little confusing with no help, it was for me!) then just message me on here.

:)

You should try your local movie theater out first. They are always hiring teen employees. The thing is that their staff is always turning over due to the school year ending or beginning. They're most likely on a hiring blitz or open to people wanting to work there. It doesn't pay a lot just minimum wage but will give you your own cash. An added perk is free movies for employees.

You probably don't want to work at McDonald's or fast-food but that's where you'll also find a lot of openings because of the fact their staff are all teens who aren't staying with them long. Also be sure to try your local bookstore as well or coffee shop, pizza store, restaurants you frequent etc. maybe even gas stations pumping gas.

If there's an amusement park near you try looking there as they always hire seasonal ride operators, guest service reps, people to dress in costumes, cashiers, waiters, waitresses and cleanup crew. You're too young to do security and need certain training for that and certificates.
