Changing my name!

Question Posted Monday January 12 2009, 11:05 pm

I really want to change my name when I turn eighteen at the end of the year. My parents accidentally gave me the same name as my cousin, and I find the name to be plain and boring.

My concern is that they'll be offended. I've mentioned it to them before. Would a parent take offense to their child changing the name they had picked out for them?

Oh, I think if you seriously explain why
you want to change it they would take it
ok. It might take them a while to get used
to calling you something else, but they might
do it.

Just keep mentioning it and talking about it
with them until you turn 18. Maybe they would
even have some good name ideas if you aren't
already set on one. Remind them often you
aren't wanting to offend them by doing it.

Good luck with it!
