i have played guitar for over 10 years now andi gotta say the most fun but simple song i ver learnt to play was Song2 by Blur its a little fast but its mostly power chords
thats if your using distortion though if its an Acoustic guitar you could try Jack Johnson - Go On
hope the songs i recommended fit your style good luck in your exam
(For my music exam that i did with about 3 freinds i played the song "It's Been a While" by "Staind")

Smoke on the Water, as made famous by Deep Purple. It was my first song I ever learned to play when I started the guitar as well as a huge amount of my friends. The riff is very simple to play, and it also sounds very sweet when you play it :) Good luck with your exam!
