can someone help explain to me what 2nd cousins mean and being twice removed, etc? i dont really understand. if theres an example of a family tree or more that would be awesome.
Your parent's cousin would be your second cousin once removed. Their children would be your second cousins. Your cousins' children would be your cousins once removed.
Imagine a family tree. The degree (2nd, 3rd, etc.) of a cousin changes when they move left or right in relation to you. Their removal from you changes when they move up or down. A cousin without removal is always in the same generation as you. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]

Being twice removed means married and divorced and re-married.
And
Great aunt/uncle/grandparents means your parent's aunt/uncle/grantparents. [ LostAngel's advice column | Ask LostAngel A Question ]
