yoga is more flexibility and mediation oriented, pilates uses more strength training but also flexibility. to get thinner and more toned, i would do a combined class like yogalates or pi-yo. those are offered at most gyms, like the ymca. but if i had to choose between the two, i would choose pilates because it has had good results with people i know.

Yoga is a bunch of stretches that help you get more flexible and tone you body. Palaties is like yoga but sortof like dance only you hold the poses insted of doing a real dance. I have tryed both yoga and palaties and my personal opinion is that palaties worked better. Just remember, yoga and palaties alone will take a while to lose weight so I suggest that you excersize more and eat healthy. Hope I helped!
