Sex Age/Statuatory Rape

Question Posted Wednesday December 10 2008, 4:39 pm

My little sister is 17 years old and I think she's hooking up with my friend who is 23. I know that they care about each other because they both come to me and talk about it. The only thing I'm worried about as an older sister and best friend is that he could get into a lot of trouble if the wrong person finds out, right? Is the sex age of New York 17 even if the other person is over 21?

i think that the relationship is going to be okay because if your parents consent to the relationship then no one will get arrested because what i thought was that the age limit was the least you would have to be is 16 and that is when you could be able to date anyone that u want to so wat i think that u should do is go to a local police department and figure out were you guys can go with your relationship before it is called statuatory rape

The age of consent in NY is 17.
Thats not saying that if parents really
wanted to push the issue, they couldn't
make his life miserable. They could.

Im pretty sure they are allowed to be together with a parents consent. But he could get in a lot of trouble if your parents press charges.
