gymnastics includes vault, bars, floor, and beam. Tumbling is just tumbling and you do not compete it is just a class that several gymnasts/cheerleaders join to increase their tumbling skills because tumbling is what holds many of them back.

Gymnastics has more to it like bars, beams, and the one jump things, and floor.
Tumbling is just floor.
