never go out during the week..

Question Posted Wednesday November 5 2008, 9:59 pm

hi, well right now im am 18 year old female, but this has always been a problem for me. during the school year, i like never do anything during the week. i come home from school, sometimes will take a nap and then do homework. i wish i could hang out with my friends but i'm such a freak about getting my homework done and i feel like i can't enjoy myself while going out during the week because of school the next day. i feel like i'm the only one who does this but i can't seem to break the habit. i go out on the weekends, but the weekends arent long enough! is there anything i could do? i'm a good student, i always get my homework done but i just can't seem to go out and hang with my friends.

your just like me lol :) your simply horribly paranoid about getting all of your school work done on time because you hate the consequences that not doing your homework does. it causes homework to pile up and you really don't want to be stuck with a lot of homework to do because the truth is that you really hate doing homework already as it is. you lean more on the social side. my best advice for you is to stop stalling with the naps because it already sucks the fact that you know that when you wake up you have work to do. thats the worst =/. my advice to you is to do what i did, do the next few chapters in your schoolbooks ahead of time so you can hang out with your friends...the same friends that has to go home and do those chapters at one point or another when you now all of a sudden have so much free time on your hands :) i hope that helped :) enjoy your new social life!

You need to make a chart. Write down all your subjects and due dates for material. Then allot no more than 1 hr 30 mins per day on homework. That's about the average amount of time to do work that has been assigned on a daily basis.

Space things out that way and develop a chart for how much time spent on each subject or what you'll do today vs tomorrow. You should then be able to go out and do whatever you want to. That's what your friends are doing.

Also stop being a bloody perfectionist either as the world won't stop if you don't get all As or do lousy on something. Loosen up and just go with the flow. I do mean to put best effort in but don't kill yourself trying to do it.

It's unhealthy to be doing what you are doing when it comes to school. Your guidance councillor will say the same thing as would a principal, teacher or a psychiatrist. It isn't good for your mental health let alone social life.

Go hang out with your friends! That's exactly what everyone would tell you to do and let things fall into place using charts and spending 1 hr 30 minutes a day on things and then tend to what you want to do with friends. Your siblings and parents who likely want rid of you by now would agree. Just ask 'em!
