what really is a fling? is like when two people just makeout and do intimate things together but not have any feelings?? or is it liek a sex-buddy, when you just meet up to have sex and leave.

A fling is really neither of those. A fling usually happens after a night of drinking, and you fool around, then realize you don't really like eachother and never talk again.

I think if it goes on for longer, it isn't a 'fling' but a sex buddy or something.

I've always considered a fling to be a relationship that didn't get too serious. You might have dated them for a few weeks, but never got into the more serious boyfriend/girlfriend stage.
People often have a "summer fling"- they date someone exclusively for the summer, but never get past that season.
