Tourist Attractions project

Question Posted Tuesday September 16 2008, 5:00 pm

17, UK

I have an assignment in which I have to research anything of my choice to do with travel & tourism.
I need to use 3 different literature types (eg, internet, book, brochure, news papers) relating to my chosen topic.
I need produce notes, evidence of source a finished report and finally I need to present my assignment in a class discussion.

Most of my class are doing well known, popular topics, such as:

Disney, Florida
9/11
The Princess Diana Memorial
Various Castles around the UK
Paris

For mine, I want something thats different, unique and not as mentioned, something that will keep my discussion going, something that will keep my class and tutors interested and wanting to ask questions and find out more...

I have come up with a few ideas, but if anyone can give me some more I will be so thankfull!

Heres what I have thought up:
Great Barrier Reef, Aus
Auschwitz (The largest Concentration Camp)
Bull Fighting, Spain
Niagra Falls, Canada
Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens, Egypt
Great Wall of China
Las Vegas, Nevada, US
Anne Frank House, Netherlands
Loch Ness, Scotland

Anyone got any idea's? Baring in mind it has to relate to Travel & Tourism & I need to be able to find 3 different sources of information about the topic.. And i'm in the UK so I havent got easy access to brochures of foreign attractions.

Thankyou

My dad just gave me an idea that I think will be really cool to research.. Graceland.. seeing as many many Elvis fans visit there every year!

So far the ones jumping out at me are
Auschwitz & Graceland :)

How about Hershey, Pennsylvania? the chocolate city where everything is Hershey-based. the street lamps, the theme park, and everything else. =]

Also i really like the Auschwitz idea. or Dachau. it was another concentration camp. and you can go tour the prison and stuff. i LOVED learning about the concentration camps and stuff, i just thought it was so intriguing how so much cruelty really happened, and i know other people in my class did too. that would be very attention-grabbing.

edit:
um, im not sure either. i mean you probably could, its a pretty big tourist attraction. but im not sure about anything specific, sorry!

I can't help much, but since Las Vegas is on your list, I figured I'd offer. I live in Vegas and could send you info if you'd like.
Another interesting tourist attraction would be Kilauea in Hawaii. It is the only active volcano in the US.
