that's what she said.

Question Posted Sunday September 14 2008, 6:42 pm

What is the line, 'That's what she said' from?? The guy in Without A Paddle said it, and now this girl in my school is saying it. What's it from and why is it so funny? Thanks.

Basically, if someone says something that could be taken in a sexual way, you say, "That's what she said!"

It means "that's what she said last night" generally. So if someone, referring to something completely random, says anything like:

"That looks really hard." or
"Do it faster."

then that warrants a "that's what she said."

It's funny because once someone says it, you have to backtrack in the conversation and then connect the dots. Most of them are stupid but some are hilarious.

National "That's What She Said" Day is February 15, the day after Valentine's Day. It's a Facebook holiday, and it's on February 15 to go with the theme of "that's what she said last night."

It's not really "from" anything, it's in a lot of things. Kind of hard to explain, but you say it after someone says something that could sound sexual. So, like, if someone says, "it's so long!", you'd say "that's what she said" (meaning in bed, not referring to anyone in general).

It's from Family Guy. I'm not sure why it's so funny though.
