I can't find a song to learn!

Question Posted Friday September 12 2008, 2:49 am

Hi,
Im a guy, 15 and about 3 months ago I bought my own acoustic guitar. The brand is Washburn and the modle is Oscar Schmidt I think. Anyway, I've been going on to youtube and teaching myself songs. I don't know very much about music, so I don't know what songs are out there, but the ones I did find I've learned and perfected. So far I've learned "Follow you into the dark" by Death Cab., "Hey there delilah" by plain white t's, "Good Riddance" By green day, and a few other songs. These are the kind of songs I'm looking for, the softer acoustic guitar songs, u know like one with a good mellody. I'm ready to learn more, I just don't know where to look. Does anyone have any ideas on what songs I should learn next?

Hey,

I suggest these:

Dust In The Wind- Kansas
Sweet Pea- Amos Lee
Put Your Records on By Corrine Bailey Rae
I'm Yours- Jason Mraz
Nothing Lasts Forever- By Maroon 5
Oh and Sweet Home Alabama- by Lynard Skynard

And I haven't heard this in a while but you can check it out: Time After time by Eva Cassidy

Dust in the Wind and nothing lasts forever have the most guitar in them though so I suggest looking at those first but the rest are pretty good.

Best of Me by The Starting Line was a good suggestion by somebody below.

Anywho, some other ideas:
You Be the Anchor... by Mayday Parade.
Hands Down by Dashboard Confessional.
That's So You by The Rocket Summer.
She Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty by Pierce the Veil.
Running from Lions by All Time Low.
Skyway Avenue (Acoustic)by We The Kings.

And my friend's brother learned "Island in the Sun" by Weezer and it was the most amazing thing I've heard in a long time, so try looking that song up, too =]

(: i love the guitar, even though I suck at it. Haha.

You can try:
Keep Driving-Woodale
The Tide-The Spill Canvas
The Best of Me-The Starting Line
Faithfully-Journey
My Hero-Paramore
Seize The Day-Avenged Sevenfold

Basically, you can take any majority of rock or alternative and turn it acoustic and play it.

This is the same type of music I play on my acoustic. One of my favorite one's to play is "You we're meant for me" By Jewel. It's a soft, nice song, but semi-challenging to learn.

Also, instead of just using youtube, I suggest you use www.ultimate-guitar.com to find the notes to songs also. It is very helpful to me.
