Being an extra in a movie? Would it be worth it to spend $40 dollars to get to New York to take this job as an extra? I'd get paid $150+ per day. but extras usually have very long hours. Also, I'm 16 so I'm starting school soon (September) where I probably can't do it other than Saturdays and Sundays...

I think it would be a really cool experience that you should definitely take advantage of. If you know you can get the job, then go for it! Very few people get the opportunity. ]
If it's a for sure thing, not just a "I'm going to New York and hopefully I can be an extra!" then you should do it. I make 350 dollars a week for full time work, so 150+ a day sounds pretty lovely, no matter what you're doing. ]
If they'll actually pay you, then yes. You'd make more money than you spent, so it's technically worth it.
There is a LOT of downtime for extras on set, and you usually don't meet celebs, just so you know. ]
You're sixteen you will have problem's getting someone to hire you, Stay home baby. ]
