Texting

Question Posted Monday July 14 2008, 6:45 pm

So, my family has a family plan from verizon wireless. We had texting, but my sister ended up going wayyy over her texting limit, and my mom got rid of her texting. But, she also got rid of mine, which is completely not fair. She said that with the family plan if you want to take away one person's texting privillages, you have to take it away for everyone? is this true, or was she lying to me? i was thinking maybe she was lying to me because she doesnt want me to go over my limit, but i know i wont. does anyone know of a plan from verizon that makes you do have to do that?

sorry to say but she isnt right. we have verizon and each person has thier own plan. she is probably just telling you this so that she doesnt have to wrry about a big bill again if someone goes over

It could certainly be true. I would bet it is.

It wouldn't be right of your mom to have lied to you, but seriously, the curse of having siblings is that when one of the screws up, you all suffer for it sometimes.

You are right, it's not fair, it’s life.

When my brother developed a drug problem, all of siblings, myself included, who had never so much as smoked pot, lost privileges. When my sister totaled the family van, it was almost a year before my parents were comfortable allowing any of to drive further then the corner store.

It's the price we pay for not living alone as hermits in the woods. Trust me, it’s worth the price. If you like not being a hermit in the woods, maybe offer your mom ten bucks a month to cover your texting and agree to cover the fees if you go over.

No that is not true because I have a plan of my own and added a family plan recently. My mom didn't want text messaging, my brother did, and my step dad didn't want it, and I have unlimited. My brother has a certain amount because he doesn't use as much as me. They were through cingular but they didn't like it so I got a great deal on a family plan through verizon. She was definitely making that up because I was able to do it.

I don't know of a specific plan, but I'm almost certain your mother was lying, either that or she just didn't know.

I know my family has an unlimited texting plan for everyone on the phone bill, which works out well; we can text each other to let each other know where we are/what's happening/etc.

I also know that a few years ago I had an individual texting plan, and only my sister and I had it- not everyone on the phone bill.

Ask your mom if you could go to the Verizon store with her and check out texting plans. And maybe you could talk her into getting your entire family the unlimited texting plan so that your sister won't go over- and no one can really go over.
