What Kind of Pet Should I Get?

Question Posted Thursday July 10 2008, 9:21 pm

I'm looking to get a small(ish), inexpensive pet. Preferably one that's not too much to maintain, and also won't be too smelly.
Obviously I know if the cage or whatnot is cleanred properly that shouldn't be too much of an issue, but you know what I mean.
I live in an apartment (well, private house), so noise is also a factor.

Also, if you suggest a fish, maybe suggest a certain kind instead of just "get a fish". Like name or what color it is and what not. And also maybe let me know the price range and what they eat.

Thanks! =)

Since you live somewhere small a cat or a dog isnt good, a fish like a beta (crown tale) or even a doubble tale gold fish would be good they are easy maintenence and inexpencive not to mention gold fish live fairly long as long as you get fish that are in the same size tehy wont eat each other. Another good pet could be a small lizard like a gecko or a pale agama, mind you geckos are pritty expencie along with the cage and equipment but agamas are fairly well priced and kinda cute looking for a lizard and can be held. i know fish dont generally small but lizards may have a slight smell.

hope this helps

I would suggest a fish, too. Only, I suggest a Betta Fish. I've had a few in my day, and they're really easy to take care of. Not to mention they're pretty =]

There are some places where you can get cats, that already have their shots, and are spayed or neutered, and they arent to expensive I mean they do need food and litter... But if you change the litter enough, it doesnt smell.

If not I would suggest a fish. I wouldnt suggest a gold fish, because they are more likely to die (myne always die in 3 months, and i feed them enough and everything.) I would suggest like those sucker fish, or the angel fish. They should be around 3-10 dollars, and i think they eat normal fish food. They are pretty cute! You might need to buy a tank though... Those could be expensive.

I hope i helped, and good luck, and have fun with your pet!

I'm not sure if your a snake person, because I'm NOT. But my boyfriend has one, and it is literally the most inexpensive pet you can have. You only feed it once a week, and it doesn't smell.

Other than that, I use to have a goldfish that was black lol. But it was unique and really pretty. It had big bug eyes, and I got it from Pet Smart.

Hamsters are cute but they do tend to smell a little =/

You read my mind. I recommend a fish, and because it's probably the most inexpensive pet you can get, and it's small and easy to take care of.

Fish obviously don't make noise, and goldfish, which is what I recommend, only cost about $0.25 a piece, though some may be a little more toward a dollar.

The food shouldn't cost much, and if you go to PetCo or PetsMart, you can ask a clerk, and they should be able to tell you how often you should feed a fish and whatnot. The food shouldn't be too expensive.
