Linux is meant for advanced computer users. You will continue to have problems finding and using software for it. As much as I love open source and alternative software, it might be easier for you to use Windows. [ theymos's advice column | Ask theymos A Question ]

You could also try this, but I don't know if it will work on xubuntu. I know it works on regular ubuntu. Type it into a terminal window.
This makes the file executable:
sudo chmod a+x Filename.bin
This runs the file:
sudo ./Filename.bin
If you already tried this, and it doesn't work, see what type of Google earth you downloaded. Was it for windows or specifically made for Linux? Windows binary files don't always work properly on Linux, and it may need other programs like Java or Flash to run. Also, try looking up "downloading google earth on linux" and see what comes up.
