When to ask your guidance counselor...

Question Posted Friday July 4 2008, 8:45 pm

Hi.
I'm will be going into 10th grade in the fall, and I was wondering when was a good time to start talking to my guidance counselor about colleges?
I want to apply for as many scholarships as possible because my parents will only pay for a school "within driving distance" of home.
Should I wait until junior year?

You should start asking about them right now.
Better now then later. The more time you have to apply, the more you can get.

No. I would go as soon as you can. It's never too early to start preparing for college. In fact, most guidance counselors recommend you start in sophomore year.
