isis answered Wednesday July 2 2008, 9:59 am: Your period is not a life long event. Generally, the menopause arrives around the age of 50, give or take a year or two. It can be a lot earlier in some cases though, but these tend to be rare and either genetically early or due to a medical problem. There will be usually be a gentle lead up to it that will give clues to what is about to happen. The menopause itself can last ten years, sometimes more. There are hormone tablets that can help to relieve the symptoms.

Which is basically another type of your period but you dont bleed. And you have hot and cold flashes, but no bleeding.
