shiny hair O.o

Question Posted Tuesday July 1 2008, 12:49 am

my hair is SO dull! I mean, I like the hairstyle and stuff, it just doesn't have that extra "glow" to it, ya know? I use fructis{sp?} shampoo and conditioner currently. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!!!

Pantene makes shampoos that are specific to hair color- blonde, brunette, and red. I used their Blonde Expressions shampoo/conditioner on my hair (which is actually kind of light brown), and it really brought out the color of my hair and made it super duper shiny. Pantene is really the only product that I've had luck with as far as enhancing my hair color/shine. I've used Suave, Garnier Fructis, and Infusium, and none of those really make my hair shine as well as Pantene does.

A similar product is by John Frieda, and comes in Sheer Blonde, Brilliant Brunette, and Radiant Red. It worked well for me, for a while, but Pantene has been much better.

If you have a lot of dead ends, it will help a bunch to get them trimmed.

Im not sure how well they work but there are types of conditioners and hairspray sort of things that say glow on them and like shiny stuff or you could try maybe just stuff that says shine and see if that works.

Peeps answered Tuesday July 1 2008, 12:59 pm:
I read in a book about an ingredient in some shampoos and conditioners that is really important to look for actually.

The ingredient was called panthenol. It is suppose to be the B5 pro-vitamin and helps to strengthen the hair by filling in damaged areas, leading to less breakage and a smoother feel. It is suppose to help retain moisture (helping to keep it nice and shiny, which is what you want) and thicken hair strands as well. You should really look for hair products containing this.

In addition, the book I was reading suggested finding a leave-in conditioner that had panthenol in it (some are even labeled on the front of the bottle) to help repair the hair follicles and help retain moisture even more so it stays shiny.

So, if I were you, I'd head to the store and look for some products containing this. Remember to pick up a good leave-in conditioner with it as well. In addition, always use products that help protect against heat styling products (like blowdriers, curling irons, and straighteners) to help prevent more damage being done. The drier your hair is, the less shiny it's going to be because it won't have the moisture in it to be healthy.

I hope I've helped you out in finding some products to use in making your hair healthier.

Leave your conditioner in for a few minutes longer than usual. I often get asked how i get my hair so soft-looking, and my only trick is that I put a good amount of conditioner in [not a huge glob, but a sizeable amount, whatever's right for your hair], and clip my hair up in one of those clip things.. I have no ides what they're called but, it's a hairclip, haha. Anyway you can take the rest of your shower while leaving the conditioner in that way.

Also, rinsing with cold water supposedly helps. Plus in the summer it's not that difficult.

Certain products leave a buildup in your hair, so try using a clarifying shampoo once in awhile to get rid of it. Suave and Pantene are two inexpensive options, or just add a teaspoon of baking soda to regular shampoo.

Split ends make ends look, well, split and dull. So get rid of them!
