skipping a period on birth control

Question Posted Monday June 30 2008, 8:58 am

Exactly how dangerous is it to skip a period while on birth control? I go to the beach in two weeks and I will also be on my period then. Is it okay to just go on to the next pack and skip my period? If so, do I have to make up my period and have two in one month? Will it definitely work? If it doesn't work, should I go back to the period pills? Or is all this skipping around too much? Sorry for so many questions, but thanks for the help!

it wont do any harm if you skip it a couple of times but dont skip your period for a few months at a time..it could prevent you from having babies. once you decide to go back on your period only stay on it for 1 week (or however long you have to stay on it) DONT make it to where its two in one month..thats too much confusion. and it will work. but i have to warn you if you skip your period once your breasts will be sore...if you skip it twice you cant even lay on your side. i hope i helped

It's not dangerous. There's birth control now that prevents you from EVER having a period, so going directly to a new pack of active pills is perfectly okay. You don't have to "make it up" or anything, just start taking pills out of the new pack & throw away the sugar pills from the pack you're on now.

It's pretty safe to put off your period by continuing to use birth control. Some people might still bleed a little bit, this is called 'spotting'. Some people, like me, don't bleed at all. It is common to experience a heavier period afterwards, though. And no, you will not have to 'make up' for your period. Just continue taking pills until you are scheduled to have another period.

I've skipped my period ONE time using birth control. You will still get your period for about a day but it's not bad. But the next time your period is due, you'll bleed a lot more than you usually do; only because you have a lot of blood waiting to be released. ♥
