myspace truth box

Question Posted Thursday June 26 2008, 6:21 pm

ok. im 16/f

i got on my myspace yesterday and someone had left a horrible racist comment in my truth box.

it read: ''Well...to be perfectly honest I dislike you very much. And I don't say this without reason. Your not a very good person and you fuck niggers because they are the only kind of people who will show anyone like you any attention. Seriously Jordyn just go to hell...''

sorry for the laguage but thats what it said word for word. this really upset me and i was wondering if anyone knew how to find out who sent this. its a truth box so its anonymous but i thought someone might know how to find out.
thank you so much

There is not much you can do, but apparently on the myspace truth box if you get a certain number of people to join truth box you can get a hint about who posted a comment. maybe you could try that? because i really don't see any other way of figuring it out, but to be perfectly honest you shouldn't worry about it because they're probably just jealous. people who do that are more often than not jealous, so if i were you i wouldnt streess over it :)

Before you worry too much about finding out who it is that said that, ask yourself if you REALLY want to know.

With that said, I doubt you will be able to find out who said that anyway. Things that give the option for users to post anonymously are given with the intention of allowing the poster to remain unknown. It's a little cowardly to say something without revealing who you are, but that isn't the issue here.

Try not to let it bother you too much. If it leaks out of the Truth Box and into other things, it may be a good idea to report it.

LM answered Thursday June 26 2008, 10:00 pm:
Honestly, there isn't much you can do about it.
It truly is anonymous =/

To put things in perspective, though, whoever said it posted it ONLINE. They didn't even have the guts to make their identity known, never mind say it to your face. I'm not telling you not to be offended, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. It's just someone trying to act all big and tough on myspace, hiding behind anonymity.

If it keeps up, and continues to happen and you feel threatened, the police might be able to track an IP address, or something similar, but good luck with that. Sorry =(

Cux answered Thursday June 26 2008, 9:11 pm:
Unfortunately, like the person below said, the truth box is completely anonymous and you can't find out.

Maybe you could try contacting Tom, but then again he doesn't help at all.

If you feel it appropriate, you could go to the police and MAYBE they may be able to do something, but no guarantees.

Sorry =/

no, thats the whole point of truth box, to be able to leave messed up comments for people you are supposed to be friends with, and to profess your undying love for someone who just thinks of you as a friend.
