It can't hurt to see a doctor, but most
of the time fainting isn't caused by any
life threatening medical problems. An
exception would be if you have a history
of heart problems.

Were you by chance coughing before you
fainted? You don't give an age, but in
young people the most common cause of
fainting is coughing really hard or a
long bout of coughing. When you take
a deep breath while coughing without
breathing out it causes less blood to
get to your brain making you faint.
After you faint you begin to breath
normally and come around quickly.

Other causes can be low blood sugar.
If you have a history of hypoglycemia
or even diabetes in your family you
want to be checked by a doctor.

Anxiety and being upset can cause
fainting. Medications like diuretics,
antidepressants or Blood pressure
meds can cause fainting. If using
any of these check with your doctor,
you may need a dosage change.

Not drinking enough fluids can also
cause fainting. Usually after being
in the sun or after an illness.

Those are the most common causes.

Maybe it wasn't your blood, but blood sugar. If you didn't eat anything before you went to the vet, then your blood sugar may have gotten low, causing you to faint.

Or if you were having a rough period, that may have caused it. I always get really weak and light-headed when i'm on my period.

It could be a number of things. If it continues, go to the doctor.

Was it a hot day? It could be heat that caused you to faint like that.
None the less, this is a good question to bring up to your doctor. They can tell you what happened, compared to our guesses.
