To be a licensed Marriage and Family counselor (depending on your state), you'll probably need a Master's degree or a special certificate. Most counselor's start out with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology or Social work. There are specific post-bachelor's programs for specialization in Marriage & Family. You'll want to take a lot of sociology classes and anything related to relationships. I actually have a lot of counseling info. If there is anything else you wanted to know on the subject. Good Luck with your goal.

Family and Consumer sciences, Home Economics, general Economics (in case the problem is money), perhaps a few Biology classes or Human Behavioral sciences. Psychology, sociology, anthropology.

Anything that allows you to understand the human mind on the inside and out, really.
