Surface piercing on back of neck?
So I was looking at this portfolio of a piercer in my area, because I'm looking for a place to get my nose pierced...
And like it's just pictures of different piercings that she's done...
And I came across this surface piercing one...and I'm sort of fascinated by it. I like how it looks and I think I might want to get it done.

How painful does that look though? And it seems kinda dangerous being so close to the spinal nerves...
Have any of you had this done or know someone with it done?
My questions are:
1. Was it really painful? Like how much more did it hurt than a navel piercing? Also, I'll probably get my nose done first...so how much more did it hurt than your nose?
2. Do you know if it's dangerous at all being close to the spine like that?
3. If it is really painful...do you think that taking some strong pain relievers before hand will help with the initial piercing pain? And on that note, do you think that will help when I get my nose done too?

Hey there its not very painful at all! i got mine done twice.. since the frist time it was crooked.
honestyly people blow it out of proportion. the first timei got mine i freaked out so bad.... when she did it wsa like.. wow that was nothing... the nose hurts much more!! and think of howmany people have there nose done? so if l;ots of ppl can get there nose.. then lots can get there nape.
its not dangerous at all as long as its done by a pro.
i i used numbing creams he first time but it really screwd it up cause it made it slippery so it ended up crooked.. u really dont need pain realierves.. if you think about it... the pain is going to last LITEREALLY 2 seconds most right? and the whole world gets it done so how bad can it be
my nose tongue and bottom belly button piercing hurt more then my neck!

I have my nape pierced !!
&& thought i might be able to help you outt.
1. It wasn't really painful, not like you'd expect anyway. Its sort of just like a pinch! && you just feel the presure. But nothing thats hurts THAT bad. LOL
I actually also have my navel done, && i don't know if its just me but, my navel hurt more than my neck.
2. No, don't worry. It doesn't go any where near your spine at all. People tell you that to scare you, but the reality is, that all your doing is piercing a bit of SKIN. Nothing to do with spinal cords and nerves ect.
3. Deffo don't take any pain relievers.
When getting your neck done, you do bleed a bit. && taking such medicines will only cause your blood to thin, therefore causing you to bleed ALOT more then usual.

The back of the neck piercing is called a ''nape'' piercing.
That's what the back of your neck is called.

I used to have it. It was painful for me since it was a surface piercing, and it could reject quite easily.
Mine didn't reject, but I always got it caught on clothes, or on the hairbrush, so I decided to retire the piercing.
The pain level depends. I have my navel, and the nape hurt wayy more, and I have a high pain tolerance level. Nose, almost painless.
But then again it depends on your pain tolerance level. :)
I don't suggest taking pain relievers before getting a piercing. Seriously, that can make you dizzy, sleepy, and you'll probably bleed more.
The nose is almost painless, the nape, it depends.
Also some people have really thick nape skin, so that makes it more painful, or it might be too thick to get pierced.
Go talk to your local piercer, and make sure it's a good and reputable place.

i've seen plenty of folks in italy with the back of their necks pierced. i would just make sure when you get it done, you go to someone with experience piercing the back of necks. with that being said, i've seen some pretty bad infections before too.
as for the nose: some people look good with it pierced, some people just look like they have a honker zit. the best people to ask, is the people who know you.

for the surface piercing they just pierce through the skin, there wont be any problems with nerves or anything, just make sure you go somewhere where thay have done those a lot before just to be safer. Honestly, I dont think it would hurt much at all, since it's just skin. It will probably just feel like a belly piercing or eyebrow, I have had both of those and didnt hurt at all, just a little pinch.

Hey Well I have my nose peirced and I was stupid and did it myself but it looks great and doesnt hurt at all really a ear peircing hurts more than a nose peircing and it isnt dangerous go get a proffesional one done and you wont have to worry
