I'm 19 years old, and have been dealing with depression since I was eight. I don't have insurance or anything, and I know that I need medication for it. So, can anyone tell me how much depression medication will be without insurance?
And how I can get insurance now that I'm at least 18 years of age. thank you.

Then you will typically pay a co-pay on certain medications. The employer can give you a list of medications that are covered and you can take that to your physician. If you cannot work because of the 'depression' and/or your household income is limited you can speak with social services in your county and see what assistance is available for your particular situation. They are there to help, and everyone needs some kind of help from time to time, so don't feel bad asking.
Most pysicians understand that people have a difficult time paying for prescriptions and perhaps would work with you on this. There are now many kinds of medications for depression, the older drugs are likely to cost less. It will also depend on what type of depression you have, as there are several types--and due to several causes. So the cost would be too wide of a range for us on here to guess, anywhere from $30-$500.00 per month..huge difference.
Many drug companies offer a discount or assistance program for those with limited income or without insurance.

What I am about to write is not exactly an answer to your question, but bear with me...
You write that you have been suffering with depression for many years. I do not doubt that this is something that you know. I am curious as to how you "know" that you need medication?
Many lay people are not aware that medication for depression often does not work the way it is hoped and it can have some very averse side effects. You need a doctor to prescribe these types of medication, most often you need insurance to see a doctor. If you have not seen a doctor, then you might want to look for a clinic in your area. Many clinics offer services on a sliding scale or payment plan.
Because you have had these problems since childhood, I can tell you that you best option would be to search out a counselor. You can try the local university, some employers offer confidential counseling through their corporate offices, or even the mental health services department of your local government.
I hope this helps, good luck. [ marajm34's advice column | Ask marajm34 A Question ]

But I am on medicaid and it is only $1 with the insurance. Check out your county FIA (family independence agency), that is where you can get medicaid through. As long as you are 18 and dont make too much money you should be able to get on it. [ meg063085's advice column | Ask meg063085 A Question ]
