Hi im 18/f i need a job and im really lazy and don't really want one, but nonetheless. My mom says i need to call and follow up like say did you get my application and whatnot, i applied to a dozen places online. is this necessary?

It lets a potential employer know how
interested you are in working for them.

I hire people at my job and if someone actually takes the time to call me I remember there name and put there application on the top of my pile. But when you call just say something like "I just wanted to thank you for taking time to interview me. If you have any further questions I would be happy to answer them." If you are to shy to call, just send a thank you card, they are effective as well.
