Mid-term reports came home and I'm in the 90s for all my classes but for gym which is 56%! I don't get how I could have gotten so low. I'm very bad at gym and sports but I gave it my 100% in every class and tried my best. He told us that you get 4 marks a day: 2 for wearing proper clothes and 2 for participation.
It's not low marks for the clothes because we have gym uniforms and I wear mine every day. And as I mentioned before, I always give my 100% effort and of course participate so I don't get why it's so low. This sucks, I liked the teacher a lot and I thought that I did a really good job but it seems that he doesn’t see it at all.
Is there anything I can do or should I stick with moping around? I don't think talking to him will change anything will it? Because if we go over it, I think I might burst into tears.
Additional info, added Saturday April 26 2008, 8:29 pm: And if those marks are low because of how good I am, it's not my fault my body was made that way. I do exercise at home but my body still isn't in the level of everyone else in my class. And he said it's about participation and not how good you are so why do you think it's like that? Maybe I'll get lucky and he just mistaken mine with someone else?

But first, here's a tip about gym teachers. Most gym teachers were pretty athletic themselves back in the day. Sports came easy for them because they had a natural ability. When they see someone who's on the lower end of the athletic scale, they assume it's from lack of effort. They think if you'd just try harder, you could do better. But of course that's not always true... some people can work their butt off and still not be good at that certain things. But people with a natural ability sometimes can't understand how something that was so easy for them could be so difficult for someone else. So they think "She's not trying, she doesn't care."
You need to convince him that you DO care, and that you ARE trying. And that's why you should talk to him.
But when I say talk to him, I don't mean challenge your grade or accuse him of being unfair. That won't help at all. What I mean is, tell him that you're really disappointed with your grade, and you want to try to do better; but you're not really sure why your grade is so low, so you need his help. Ask him what you've been doing wrong, and how you could do it better. Remember, aside from being an athletic dude, he also chose to be a teacher because he wants to help students. Just asking for his help will make him more sympathetic toward you. And if he thinks that you're taking his advice, it's going to make him feel like he's doing his job... and that will likely make him give you higher grades next time!

Don't be afraid to talk to your teacher. If you do cry, don't be embarrassed. It might actually make persuade him even more lol (not that you should MAKE yourself cry).
He said it himself, that you get the points for participation instead of how good you are, so let him know that you really tried, even though you aren't the most athletic person. Just say exactly what you just said, "I gave it 100% in every class and tried my best".
It will make a difference to him if you actually go up to him to discuss it after class. Like I said, if you do nothing, it will look like you don't care about your grade. Just muster up the courage to talk to him. It takes two seconds to change that grade. I'm sure it'll all work out!
