hi! im wearing this gorgeous dress to prom:

you cant really tell as much in the picture but everything, especially the straps, are really detailed. its even more fancy in real life than online. theres a lot going on at the top and i dont want to cover it up with my hair. its gonna clash and look ugly and overdone. i have a LOT of hair. its long and kinda thick but at the same time i look like crap with my hair in an updo. what should i do with it?

that is such a gorgeous dress!!!!

i personally don't really like when people wear their hair in a really slicked back bun kind of thing, but something like a loose sort of hanging down messy bun would look really cute i think.
something like these maybe?
[and sorry about all the long links, and the last one i just thought looked really cool]

OMG THAT DRESS IS HOT AS HELLLLL!!!! I wish I had a dress like that when I went to prom :(

You're 100% right about not wearing your hair down. It'll really take away the focus of the dress and cover up the straps.

You should really wear your hair up, but if you reallly hate updo's, then you should wear a half-updo and half-down, or in a low bun. I have long, thick hair too, but it really works great with an updo.

Here are some styles I like (I know these are bridal pics but you can see that all the girls have thick hair too):

if your hair looks anything like the model in this picture, I would say leave your hair down. I like how the hair looks on her with the dress. Also, the back looks way to bare unless you have some hair there.

But, if you are still not sure, then go to a salon for advice. Clearly, they are more of an expert in this area and they will be able to help.
