im never happy... :(

i just started going to a psychologist once a week becuase i was just found out to have depression. In the meantime, i ALWAYS over think things, and its just like i feel everything 10x worse than everyone else! I hurt so much, even the slightest thing. Like I think about the boy I like, and i want to cry. Is there anything i can do to make myself feel better? Like any good ways to get myself to stop over-thinking so much and just be happy? PLEASE help!

i had that problem too last year.
i went to the psychologist, and went on medicine.
i started going in like september 06 and stopped in jan 07.
it take about two months for you to really start changing, but trust me it will get better.
now i no longer feel any of those feelings, i got confidence back and i began trusting others and i stopped worrying about stuff too much.
i'm sure the same will happen for you, just give it time.
its tough admitting you're depressed and that you need a psychologists help, i'm glad you decided to take control and turn your situation around.

my best idea to make yourself feel better is do what your therapist tells you to. take your medicine if you're on some, and try to do things that make you happy. if you find yourself worrying about something, go play a game or something to distract you, don't let your thoughts get the best of you.

hang out with your friends more, get a new hobby, change the way you look. just start doing things that are what you want to do. its okay to be a little selfish.

It takes 6-8 weeks for anti-depressants to really have any effect. If you've just been placed on them this may explain why you still feel horrible. What you need more than a psychologist is a psychiatrist as they know this medication inside and out and how to help you deal with depression and give you back your life.

What you need to do is get a referral to one pronto. You can do this by visiting the emergency room (yes mental health issues such as depression are an emergency) and tell the people admitting you that you have been diagnosed with depression, have just been place on medication but feel ten times as worse as you did before being put on it.

A psychiatrist will assess the situation and tell you what to do. They may keep you 72 hours for observation just to figure out the right course to take and see that you can function or not or pose any risk to yourself or others. This is okay, no pleasant but gets you better.

You need to go and do that. Tell your family how you feel and that you want to go to the hospital and see a psychiatrist so they can help you because you just can't cope with anything and that the medication appears to have made it worse. You're not stable with depression yet. Inform this other doctor of your decision as it's the right call to make. How do I know? been there, felt that, did exactly that. At that point I was in crisis which may be where things are headed with you unless you seek more medical attention.

I used to be like this. Everytime a depression commercial came on I would say that's me. But, you've got to commit and try to make yourself happier. Start by meditating. Just something simple, go to youtube, find a meditation video, sit back in your chair and listen to it, or lay on your bed and listen to it. Start looking on the positive side of things. If you keep this attitude and keep thinking that it will never change, IT WON'T. The only way to fix it is to take action. Surround yourself by the people that make you happy. Don't let the little things upset you. When you start over-thinking something, change the subject in your mind. Learn to live in the moment. Get it through your head that over-thinking won't change it. But seriously meditation was the answer for me. I went through this about a month ago. Up until last month I was always depressed and sad and I had your attitude about everything. Hope it works and let me know if you need help :]

im going through this too. myne has gotten better though because ive been dating this boyy and he always there for me to make things better. ive learned that if you talk out your problems, have someone to give you a hug when you need it ( a pillow or teddy bear works too..also a pet like a dog! thats what i do! ) and dont bottle up tears you feel better. your very lucky to have a doctor too see also. they can prescribe you medicine that will help if you are really feeling down. ive been in my depression for about a year now...with no doctor to help me. so your blessed. try to look at all the positives! make sure you get around 8 hours of sleep a night because i found out that helps too. maybe taking naps after school may make you feel happier too? it works for me. go skip down the street or turn on happy music and start to dance. doing something silly brightens you up too. spray your favorite smell on your pillows and clothes so your comfertable. read a book. write poetry. i like to give advice..like i am doing right now. maybe that could help for you too? look at pictures of you and your friends. get out of the house. go swimming and go under water and scream. relieves stress. take a hot bath with bubbles and make a beard out of the bubbles. hehe. play with play doh. hang with a younger kid and play little games with them. never sit there and let your mind wander! that makes things worse. goodluck. and i hope you break your depression. hope i helped!
