When you feel overwhelmed and helpless to solve such huge problems, you need some real help. You don't feel connected to your classes, maybe because of a bigger issue you are not dealing with in your life. School is about you, but chances are you have not yet figured that out. Maybe you are rebeling against pleasing everyone but yourself in your life, or maybe you are zoning out for other reasons...I don't know, but you need to get real with yourself and get some good support. This is your life...school and work can be boring...but it is actually your choice to make it less or more boring. If you really engage yourself and pour yourself into it, it will become easier and more exciting when you mentally interact. Take lots of notes...practically write down everything your teacher says to help keep you focused and less distracted. Reward yourself at the end of each class or homework assignment with a well deserved treat, pat on your own back, or something fun. [ BitsandPieces's advice column | Ask BitsandPieces A Question ]

At my school the homework usually counts for about 30-40% of the grade. It's really important that it's at least done. If you make an effort the teachers recognize it. Also if you're having trouble in a certain class ask the teacher if you can stay after class or after school to get some help. They'll probably be more than likely to say yes, and if they don't ask if they know a good tutor. Also remember that tests usually count for the largest percentage of the grade. When I have a test I study for about 20 minutes...I then shut the book and do something like go on a walk or something for about 15 minutes...then I come back and study for another 20 minutes and take another break. The brain's attention span is only around 20 minutes so you will retain information better if you study this way. Also remember that peppermint stimulates brain activity so keep some mints with you...that will help (cinnamon reduces brain activity). Follow these tips, and don't be afraid to ask questions and you should be fine. Also (if it helps you) try making flash cards to study with. Some people are visual learners and find that much easier...it's all about what type of learner you are. if you need more information you can message me.
