There are a few things I can tell you to gain weight. You could try eating a bit more red meat, this will help muscle growth. There are also protein shakes and additives you can get from a chemmist. Asking them what they think would be best for you as I don't know your age. These protein shakes are good for people who are underweight and it keeps them healthier and stronger.

There are a lot of things to take into consideration when trying to gain weight. Going to the gym is actually a good start, since you want to be healthy doing this. Muscle weighs more than fat, so as you build muscle, you can gain weight, but you will likely lose some at first as your body loses water weight and fat.
A high fat and calorie diet will make you gain weight, as well as potential for heart disease and diabetes, so it is best to not just eat a lot of bad foods to gain weight.
To really know what to suggest, I'd need to know how old you are, how active you are, and what you typically eat in a day (including how often you eat).
Not knowing all that, here is what I recommend trying:
If you eat fairly healthfully, that is a good start. Eat more of it. Eat plenty of protein, as protein feeds muscles. If you eat high fat, it will build fat, and that is not what you want if you want to be healthy. If you go to a health food store, you can find protein shakes. I don't know which to recommend though, as I haven't gotten any in stores. I do like the protein shake available at Curves (a gym for women), so I know there are shakes that taste pretty good.
Keep exercising, but focus mainly on strength training and limit the aerobic exercise. This way, you will build muscle without getting in a fat burning zone (if you are lacking fat, that fat burning zone will eat the muscle instead).
Good luck, and stay healthy!

Um, you tried to go to the gym to GAIN weight? The only way to gain weight is to increase calorie/fat intake :] basically, eat foods that are higher in fat. Lucky you, some of us have to eat veggies :[ lol goodluck!
