paper due for health

Question Posted Wednesday March 19 2008, 12:08 am

for my health class, were learning how how the baby grows and what you have to do to take care of it. the only thing is, is that we never learned what would happen to the baby if you DIDNT take care of it. like, for example, if you didnt eat for a long period of time. and this is going to sound stupid but, if you didnt eat for a long period of time, would you actually " get rid " of the baby? like, it just wouldnt grow anymore? and how long would it take, like, day's or weeks, before the baby just " dies". im never going to do this, and i know it sounds stupid, but i was just wondering. because we never learned in health.

thanks for all your help!

Wow! You do have a lot of questions don't you?I'm not a doctor or anything,so maybe you could enlist the help of someone in the plan-parenthood,the state Health Dept..Ask if they have any thing they can send you or that you can pick up on the subject.I don't think that if you stop eating,it will kill the child. The unborn child feeds off of you through the cord that is attached to you both. You could probably mentally handicapped the child. If You died the baby would still live for a short time inside you.I would assume that the doctors would cut you open(sound gross) and try and let the baby survive. It might depend on how far along you are as to how long your baby will live.I wish you the best of luck on your search.I may have to look some things and see how close my guesses are.

In order to get an accurate answer, look in the phone book under Obstetrician. Call and ask them.
All you will likely get here are shots in the dark, and if you are doing this for a paper, you need accurate information.

You can try to ask Nallie, for she a nurse and used to work in obstetrics.
