I need to lose 50 pounds by June. I have already stopped eating any junkfood... what else can I do? I need things that REALLY work for someone on a budget.
You could simply do some jogging/cycling/walking/whatever, atleast 15 minutes a day. Don't run, if you can't do it for long distances. And buying weights to help build muscles, which would help your metabolism. Stretches, and toning exercises such as squats/sit-ups/crunches etc. would also help. Like the other people said, anything that gets you moving is good.
If you have enough in your budget to go to a gym, that would help you get closer to your goal since there are plenty of toning machines, and cardio machines provided. Some gyms provide free group classes, or consultation on what you can do to achieve your goal. Some may not.
Also, food-wise, do not skip meals, or starve yourself. You should make sure you eat something with protein in it before you work out, or some time in the day because it helps you with muscle building-- which is important for healthy weight loss. [ jchu's advice column | Ask jchu A Question ]

Eliminating junk food is already a great way to cut down on calories, sugar, and fat. Instead of eating three large meals a day, try eating five small meals a day. This will make you feel like you are getting more food, and it will also help your metabolism work at a steady pace. Never skip breakfast because that's what starts your metabolism in the morning and if you don't eat it then your metabolism will be slower throughout the day. Also make sure you don't eat right before you go to bed, as your body won't have an opportunity to burn the food off before you go to sleep. As for exercising, try to do something every day, no matter how small. Also try to move more than you normally would. Instead of taking the elevator, take the stairs. When you're watching t.v. you could jog in place, do sit-ups or push-ups, or do some weight lifting. If you don't really enjoy exercising, try finding things that will be fun and still help you lose weight. For example, if you have a favorite sport, get on a team. You could also try dancing, roller skating, walking your dog, or even going bowling. Any physical activity is better than none. Try listening to music while you work out, it might help you be more motivated. As long as you try and eat healthy and work out as often as you can you should be able to lose weight. Good luck. asknava answered Saturday March 8 2008, 12:38 pm: I mean if you are trying to burn it off by June which is only like 4 months away then I suggest you do a low carb. I have done Atkins, it works but you gotta stick to it or you gain the weight back, like any other diet, if you don't stick to it, eventually you gain it back. The thing is if you do South Beach, that is like atkins, but it is more suited for a lifestyle. I also hear that Nutrisystem works really well... I don't know what kind of budget you are on, cause they very between people, it could be $20 a week or it could be $500 a week or more, but if you have enough to do Nutrisystem, they get all the meals ready for you and you lose weight well and at a good rate and you don't have to worry about shoping and planning and all of that. You could also do Calorie Counting which I never liked. There are 3500 calories in every lbs. If you could like cut maybe 4 lbs a week then you would be good. Drink a lot a lot a lot of water cause this helps you yourinate a lot and this will drop the lbs, even though it doesn't feel like it. The fastest thing that a lot of models and actors advocate is low carb, but you have to have to and I mean have to stick to it! cause if you mess up and have that little piece of chocolate that you aren't supposed to have until induction, then you are going to mess the whole thing up and you wont be able to have the same results for at least a few months. Learned this from experience. :P but then your body may be different. Low carb, exercise and lot's of water. Also plan out your days a few days in advance. Reason being, if you wait til the day of and you can't think of something to eat and you don't have anything in the house or you are bored with what you have, you will resort to eating anything and this could mess your thing up.
