Application

Question Posted Monday March 3 2008, 11:54 am

Would it be acceptable to attach a small letter to a job application?

I wrote a small letter explaining that I was interested in working during the summer since I am attending college. I already put on the application that I cannot start until May, but I felt the need to explain my current situation of not being at home, but I will be in a couple months.

Would it be more appropriate to just wait for them to contact me?

I think that would be all right. It shows that you're interested in the job, but you can't work until summer. You're supposed to put when you're available on the application, so if a short letter helps you do that, I see no problem with it. Just make sure the letter looks nice- type it, preferably, and both print and sign your name- and isn't written on a Hello Kitty Post-It note or anything :)

**EDIT**

Why did Laura & I receive 4's if we answered your question?

Peculiar, hm?

**/EDIT**

I just asked my mom who actually works at a restaurant.

She said it would be more appropriate to wait until after they've hired you to explain your situation to them so that you can figure out a work schedule that will work out for both you and your employer.
