Yasmin Birth Control

Question Posted Thursday February 14 2008, 10:40 am

hello. I just started using birth control this month, so I've obviously been on it for 28 days. I'm on yasmin, and today I'm starting a new pack. throughout the entire month, I've been finding extremely small and tiny amounts of "blood". I literally just got off of my period. I started it on like saturday I think. it looks like now I'm finally off of that. so my period would've lasted 6 days. my reason for going on this, was because every month I'd get extremely sick. anything hot made me sick, nothing was helping my cramps, during the first few days of my period I'd bleed a lot, my period always lasted seven days, and I'd be throwing up every single month. my period has always been this way. my older sis takes yasmin so I thought it might also be good for me. I noticed a change in my cramps when I was on my period. They weren't as bad as they usually are, I didn't bleed as much as I normally do, but it still seems as if I stayed on my period for a long ass time. I thought using birth control was supposed to make my period shorter also, i didn't think I'd still be on it the same amount of days. I knew I was on it because I got bad cramps this time around, and the blood was actually red this time. with this "spotting" or whatever you wanna call it, It's always a lightish brown color. sometimes it tends to be darker. it seems like no matter what i do I'll never be able to go without using a pad, pantyliner, or tampon, because I'll end up staining my clothes a little bit. I ask my older sis about this all the time, and she just says I'm stupid if I stop using it. I read the whole booklet thing on this birth control, and it says it's normal for spotting to occur within the 1st three packs of pills, when you start using this. I'm starting the second pack today. what I'm wondering is, has this ever happened to anyone when they started birth control? Because I know this is normal, but I thought it wasn't gonna be like this every single day. even though It's just spotting, I've felt like I've been on a period this whole month. just because if I didn't use anything, I'd be staining my underwear. if this has happened to anyone, can you please inform me about it, and tell me what kind of birth control you were on? and also, I'd like to know if i should just wait it out, until after I've finished using a third pack of pills, and then see if the spotting stops. or if I'm better off just not taking it anymore? since this is my first time using it I don't really know what some good reasons are to switch to a different kind of birth control. It's not tons of "blood" that comes from me, but if I go without anything I'll stain my clothes like I said. It's fine when i pee and everything, but when I wipe myself, there's a light brownish color on the toilet paper. Does anyone think this spotting will stop soon, or am I better off finishing the 3rd pack next month, to see if it stops? I've been using those carefree thong pantiliners for this spotting, because it's not a lot that comes from me. Someone please respond if you'd know anything about this. I'm really sorry this is so long. If my sister would give me any straight answers I'd ask her. I'm getting really frustrated with this. Thank you so much to anyone who answers. Please answer asap :) happy valentine's day everyone! I hope you enjoy it!

Birth control can effect everyone differently because everyone is different. I use Yaz, and I had two periods a month for the first two packs. I now have my period at the same time every month and it helps with the cramping and the bleeding. Brown or black blood is usually an idication of old blood. This will come out first. If you have the brown or black blood every month, then I would tell your doctor, because it could be a sign of endometriosis. This is actually more common than you may think, but it can cause severe symptoms, such as painful cramping, throwing up, and excessive bleeding. I would get checked just to be sure. Good luck.

hon i was exactly the smae way when i was on yasmin but its cauz the pill your on isnt a strong enough dose to fully stop your period so it becomes a brownish color and/or spotting. but if i was u i woul dgo to your doctor and ask for a different brand trinessa works fine and ive been on it for like a year and i dont spot like i did when i was on yasmin.
hope this helps! ^_^
