I've known a guy for several years now (well, ever since the 3rd Grade) and I've never really paid attention to him. We tease each other and laugh at each other all the time. We've both had relationships come and go over the years, but our "friendship" hasn't broken yet.
Well, lately, I've been thinking about him more and more. And no, its not because we have EVERY SINGLE PERIOD together, its because he has a sweet smile, good sense of humor, etc.
Nobody knows about my little crush on him, even my closest friends. The problem is, we've been picking on each other for so long and I don't know how he'll react.
So, the question is:
1) Should I really be chasing after him? After all these years?
2) How can I show him I like him without him or anyone else making fun of me?
Additional info, added Monday February 11 2008, 9:47 pm: I guess I could I say I'm a Tomboy. I love Hockey and Football. Most of the guys think I would be a pretty cool dude. I'm pretty sure he would NOT want to date with me because of my personality, but I'm not willing to change!. Want to answer more questions in the Relationships category? But i would guess that if you guys are teasing each other all the time its a good sign he likes you - for some odd reason at lot of people who like each other spend a good deal of time winding each other up prior to dating. I think you should b yourself. Hes got to love you for who you are.
Just try flirting with him a little bit. If you catch him staring at you somtimes its a good sign.!

Don't come on really strong, just ask him if he has ever thought about you. And I'm sure that if he doesn't feel the same as you, you can ask him to not mention it to his friends.
You are two friends having a conversation, it shouldn't be too big of a deal. and Hey, you'd be surprised how many guys fall for their girl best friend. They just tend to be too scared to say anything first.
