Question Posted Sunday February 10 2008, 11:06 am

Well my teeth are not so white , as to what i feel comfortable with. I have a very pretty smile but i feel sort of out of place when i do smile because my teeth are not what i want them to look like . Is there anyway i can make my teeth whiter with out going to the dentist , i heard something about baking soda , but i dont know how to use it with my brush. Help please.

If you don't want to spend any money on whitening strips (which don't work as well as advertised) or on special toothpaste then yes you can use baking soda as well.

Take a plate and put some baking soda on it. (about one to two teaspoon full)

Then take a few drops of water and add it to the baking soda.(you don't want to add too much, you want it to be like a thick paste, but not too little either)

Then you just use your finger and put a thick-ish layer on your top and bottom teeth. (Mind you that this won't taste so great, but after a few minutes you get use to it)

Leave it on for as long as you'd like. (you'll probably want to keep adding a little more to it every now and then, because you will end up swallowing a little bit of it)

It truly does help though. My teeth use to be pretty yellow, but i just did that every night for a few months, and every now and again and my teeth are incredibly white. Just don't expect incredibly noticeable results after the first time you use it.

If you want to use it as a toothpaste as well, just make the paste like i said before, and put it on your tooth brush.

Well, actually, they do make a Baking Soda toothpaste [by Arm & Hammer, the company that makes baking soda], so you could go out and buy that. I'm sure it's not that expensive, but it's going to taste like sh*t. After all, it is baking soda. If you don't have the time to go out and buy it, just put regular toothpaste on your toothbrush, take a pinch of baking soda, and lightly sprinkle it on top of the toothpaste so that it sticks.

You could also try Crest WhiteStrips. They run for about $45 dollars I believe.
