Cheerleading SQUAD

Question Posted Sunday February 3 2008, 5:17 pm

HEY!!

Our school dosent have a cheerleading squad so i wanted to start one.
We wouldn compete or anything, we would just go to our school's basketball and soccer and volleyball games and stuff.

Any advice on how t start them?

I talked to our school principal and she said it was fine as long as out outfits covered our knees... any ideas on how to do that and still make it cute?

Our school colors are orange and black
or navy and white

Thanx so so much!

Xoxo

For the uniforms: If your principal will go for it, you could wear traditional cheer skirts (the kind that are mid-thigh length), but with black or navy leggings underneath; either ankle length or ones that stop just below the knee. That would keep your knees covered but still look like cheerleading uniforms. =)

To get the squad started: Here's a couple things to think about and talk over with your principal:

1) Is there a teacher willing to sponsor the cheer squad and attend practices/games?

2) When and where would the squad practice?

3) Would the squad be open to anyone, or be limited to a certain number (and therefore require a tryout)?

If you have tryouts:

4) Who would judge the tryouts? Who would organize it and make up the tryout cheers, etc? [Idea: you could contact the cheerleaders at a nearby school; maybe their senior cheerleaders would be willing to make up a tryout cheer, teach it to the girls, and even judge the tryout. They might even be willing to hold a clinic to teach the new squad some cheers.]

I hope this helps some! Good luck!

well, you can start by making banners and posters for the club, and get people (like your friends) and the futball players to all help you (and everyone else you are cheering for). If you have to have the skirts down to your knees, you can make no sleeve, and a little v neck top. not porno v neck, cute v neck. i dont think that will be a problem though, just make everything else look cute, like use glitter for your eyes, hair etc...get pom poms, get a teacher if you can to really get the whole club in order...this will make everyone listen to you more. also, try to get someone to teach your new squad how to cheer haha :-] and also, set up a practice schedule, game schedule, and have a tryouts date, and judging team with you.
GoOd LuCk!!!
ps
also set up a breakfast for the people trying out and have a fundraiser too for uniforms and stuff

Make Banners and posters for cheer tryouts and make a reasonable cost to join-- youll need income for the cheerleading outfits
also ... hand out flyers and event calenders, make cute cheers, and definetely go with the colors navy and white , orange and black are too halloweeny :]]
