Still Underweight I have been underweight for awhile now. I used to do strict dieting and could be considered anorexic, but I haven't been hungry in awhile. I eat every 3 hours [breakfast, lunch, and dinner with snacks inbetween] and I eat whenever I do feel hungry. The problem is I haven't been gaining weight like I should be. I do not like eating fatty foods. That seems to be my main problem. Is there any way I can gain weight without having to eat foods high in fat? I get enough calories in a day, but I have a fast metabolism. I probably take in about 1500-1600 calories without exercising. Should I increase that even more? Is there something I'm doing wrong? Any ideas/opinions?? Thanks!!

you need atleast 2000 calories in your diet each day ans since you have a fast matabolism you should definetly eat more! lol. maybe have a chocolate bar now and then or go to a resturant
but you will definetly have to eat more ]
Most people trying to LOSE weight eat about 1500 calories a day.
If you're trying to gain, you HAVE to increase your calorie intake, especially if you have a fast metabolism. I have a fast metabolism too, I eat every 3 hours, and about 1500 calories, but I'm trying to lose weight, and it's working. I got to the point where I wasn't eating enough to maintain my weight, and I dropped pounds like flies. (...weird analogy, but whatever, you get the idea.)
You don't have to eat unhealthily, it's good that you like things that are good for you.
You could also eat less frequently, but if you're actually hungry every 3 hours, don't worry about that. You'd do more harm than good to deny your body what it wants or needs.
Good luck!

well, you could always eat more portions of the regular things that you eat, but if you get a craving for something like chocolate, go for it and have some! :-] also, you should try eating something (like chocolate) even if you dont feel like it, you may not think you are in the mood for it, and then end up having your belly thank you for the treat! Your body can also be not hungry because of your old dieting habbits, and is not used to eating or having a full stomach. Just take it slow, start out with a certain portion size, and then say each week add a little more to the portion you intake. but you have to be consistent, and really push yourself. in no time you will be gaining a little wait and reach your goal!

You seriously need to see a doctor. They can help you better than a group of teenagers on the internet. And the whole fatty foods thing...you definitely sound at risk for an eating disorder. You simply have to eat fat to gain weight.
Have lots of milkshakes and smoothies (Jamba Juice will work well if you have one near you) and try Ensure nutritional shakes, available at drugstores.
And by the way, 1500 calories a day is what people eat when they're on a diet- i.e., not nearly enough. ]
