how can i learn to dance before my highschool formals dance coming up and not feel stupid or look stupiidd??i just need some tips on what to do.

Learning to dance is a lot easier said than done. The MAIN thing about dancing is to find a rythym. Just grabbing their hands and move them to the beat. It sounds stupid, but it'll work. If you prefer grinding, just put your back against his chest and when he puts his hands on your hips/waist, hold his hands. Just like .. rock back and forth as you'd normally do but make sure that his hips stay in sync with yours.

You should turn on some music, and just start going with the flow, and dancing the way that YOU feel comfortable. Don't try to pop it unless you know what you're doing! You might end up looking silly. It will come naturally, trust me.

Well at my sleep away camp we have 2 dances and we always dance like this:
The boy puts his hands around your waist and you put your hands on his shoulders and you kinda just rock back and forth.
