Siren's answer was right on the money. Assuming you're a female, you really don't need to worry about getting too muscular. Those female body builders that you may see on TV work HARD 24/7 to get that way...women really aren't built that way. But muscles ARE your friends. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn. If your stomach is getting flat, and your clothes are fitting better, then ignore the scale. Eat good food, and keep working out! A pound of muscle is much smaller than a pound of fat, so if you're working out, you may be losing a pound of fat and replacing it with a pound of (much smaller) muscle. There's nothing wrong with that! Focus on getting healthy!!

You have to understand that any amount of working out, including running, is going to have you gaining muscle.
BUT know this - muscle mass weighs more than fat. Weight is just a number. My boyfriend can wrap his hands around my waist and pick me up, but I weigh about 120. It's lean muscle mass, I work out a lot.
LEAN muscle mass is more compact than fat, even if it does weigh more.
I think the muscles you don't want are the big and bulky scary muscles that guys get when they work out. Testosterone causes that. So, really, you have nothing to worry about.
Running will help you burn fat and gain lean muscle, and keep your heart in shape. That's a GOOD thing.
Don't measure your weight by the number on the scale. Measure it by the size of your clothes. You say your stomach is getting flatter; that's really good. It's working. =D
It is possible to lose weight, though. But if you're close to or at your ideal weight, you'll find it kinda hard.
To lose weight, you have to eat right, and the right AMOUNT. Eat something small every 3-4 hours, and that should help increase your metabolism.
You might want to find a calculator on line to see how many calories you burn per day and how much you need to be eating to lose weight. You'd be surprised, it's probably more than you think.
If you have any specific questions or want more help, feel free to contact me.
Good luck!
-Siren =)

Are you eating correctly? Because if you arent, running wont do anything really. You probably are just building muscle- and there isnt really a way to stop that.
