At random moments just stare at him, and when eyes meet, you're half way there. Stare at his lips, it is a very obvious hint but not desperate at all!
And then move closer, lean in only half way and he will lean in the other half.
Let lips touch and then see where they go on from there, kissing is very natural and it will just flow! Believe me and first kisses aren't always bad, mine wasn't!
About your hands, you can put them round his neck, round his waist... anywhere where you feel comfortable. I will recommend the around the nexk position, it is comfortable and it makes the kissing smoother, to me though.
Hope this helped!

A good first kiss is unplanned. Hmmm... how should I put this.

Say your putting together a dresser by the help of an instruction manual. You concentrate so much on each step of putting that piece of furniture together, that you forget to enjoy the actual beauty of that dresser taking its shape.

Same thing with a kiss. If you start thinking about where your hands go, and how long to kiss for, you will forget about expressing your love for the guy.

Oh gosh, what a horrible comparison. But hopefully you get the idea.

So, in short, don't pressure the kiss to happen. It'll happen when it'll happen. If you pressure it, it won't be natural, and most likely it'll be a bad kiss.

Oh, and I'm speaking from personal experience, by the way.

Wait until the time seems right... then get close to him, look into his eyes... and if he doesn't kiss you first, then go ahead and kiss him! Put your hands on his shoulders or arms, or on his face. Make it a short one at first. If he kisses back, then it can be as long as you both want! Good luck! =]
