For starters, dont freak out. Keep your mind on the track and not impressing him.(Assuming your a girl by the heart because you didnt specify(sorry)) If you have to, keep yourself busy. But when practice is over, trying hanging with him to boost your confidence level. That way, when you see him you wont be so freaked out. But if you feel you could never do this in your life, then take it easy and slowly and gradually get closer to him. Because if you both make it, your going to have to get to know him.

One running tip is to endurance run. Take a jog in the morning if you can or after school. Stretch out your arms and legs before you run. Drink a lot of water or gaterade or something because your legs are going to hurt. DO NOT over run. If you feel your at your limit(unless its practice) then stop and take a breather. During practice they are going to make you run a lot, so if you get tired during practice slow down and take deep breathes. As long as you show your giving effort, youll look good. But again, you should try to exercise outside of practice as well.

You mentioned trying out for track before your crush, that shows the team is your first priority. You are doing it for you, so watch him only when he is trying out- not when you are. I am sure everyone is nervous they that will mess up but chances are, you'll do fine. Make sure you drink water throughout the day and that you eat something. You need food for energy. It is also a must that you stretch before and dont rush while stretching. The point is to loosen your muscles to prevent injury. If you follow this, you will be more focused. While running, be sure to keep your back and neck in line. If you are trying out on the track, jog the curves and sprint the straightaways. Think of your crush being on the team as a bonus if you make it. Good luck.
