volleyball middle blocker hits 16/f
i play middle blocker on my club team. does anyone know what are the different kinds of middle blocker hits and how do you hit them? i only know the "1" and "2" but i dont fully understand the "1". ive also heard of "back 2" and "51" and "8".

heyy...ok. so basiclly this is what you can do.
1- very qucik hit...basically you just take it staright out of the setters hands. quick approach and quick.
2- its a slower 1 its called a 2 because it supposed to be 2 feet higher than the net, its just the basic middle hit.
back 2- same as a 1 except you go behind the setter instead of in front of her, again a fast approach and hit.
51- its like half way in between an outside and middle hit as far as placement on the net. its not that fast, but its not slow.
8- its in the right side hitting postion, you do kinda the same foot work as you would if you were doing a lay up in basketball, you jump off of one foot.
but raelly...just ask your coach....he/she will tell you what they want ]
You should ask your coach--there's no way he/she wouldn't know. I play middle blocker, too, and the lingo we use for my hits are quicks, 3s, slides, back-1s (quicks behind), back rows, and roll shots. Obviously, there's a lot to be said about each of those, in terms of timing, placement, etc. ]
