See, that's what I don't understand, the only power you have when smoking cigarettes is the power to kill yourself without realizing it if you don't know the consequences or facts of smoking them and because that is what tobacco does to you. I'm 15 and I know peopel who have been smoking throughout middle school, but they quit because they knew their lives were in danger and plus, nobody likes a guy/girl with yellow teeth, raspy voice, lethery skin, older looking features [face is more wrinkled] and yellow fingers, i mean PUH-LEASE. What good is smoking anyways? Chew a piece of gum, or a whole pack if you need to, suck on candy [or mint] chew on a straw or something, but get your mind off of cigarettes, in the long run you WILL regret it, and I never even tried one because it is DISGUSTING. I for one, would not liek to kiss someone who has been smoking, YUCK. Make the right choice, smokign is not the way to go, and your young, why throw your life away to light a cigarette and smoke it when you could be playing sports and FYI, smoking does not get you in the cool category in anyones book, it just makes you a follower and a really bad role model.
Don't smoke, quit now.

You'll just have to make the decision to live a healthier life: Chew gum, suck on hard candies and above all stay busy! If you find yourself just sitting around and thinking about it, find a task for your brain.
In the end, such things come down to will-power. If you want to end the obsessive thoughts you need to be serious about it, work at it and resist the temptation. [ Razhie's advice column | Ask Razhie A Question ]
Alin75 answered Friday January 11 2008, 8:55 pm: First off, you could easily just have said no. Thats the part I really dont get. Now dont get me wrong, I was a smoker for years, but it was my choice. And it was one crappy choice let me tell you.
What you need to do now is to stay away from tobacco. Its nowhere near as hard as trying to quit later. All you have now is a minor, presumably only psycological, addiction.
I cannot emphasise how much those things affect you. After a short while most people need (need not want) to smoke them constantly. I went to over a pack a day in a year.
Talk to someone if you must, but in the end this is no different than any other temptation and addiction that you will face. You just have to convince yourself to stay away. The craving will pass I guarantee that.
One last thing, and this is just friendly advice. If you dont learn to say no to something whenever you arent sure about it, or whenever you dont want to do it (irrespective of who is asking etc), you will get into a world of trouble later in life.
Amarete answered Friday January 11 2008, 8:48 pm: Try finding another healthier addiction for now, and do that whenever you feel like smoking. Like how some long-time smokers start chewing gum or drinking soda while they quit? Chewing gum would be a much better addiction than smoking.
If it's the power trip that you are after, I'm not sure on what you should do. But you should definitely find another way, because smoking is expensive, bad for you, and a lot of girls think it's absolutely disgusting (like me). Good luck. [ Amarete's advice column | Ask Amarete A Question ]
