You don't have to get your hair or nails done to feel pretty when you ARE. Your friend obvoiusly asked you out because he likes to be around you, and it probably won't matter if you get all dolled up for one night, one dance. The seniors won't laugh at you and im sure not EVERYONE will get their hair and nails done, so you won't be the only one. Just look confident and flirtacious, fun and energetic, with pretty makeup and some perfume. (nice jewlery wouldn't be bad either :]) You'll have a great time just being you.
xxoo Have funn

People don't pay attention to your nails, and you will be dancing so much your hair won't matter anyways. You should just try and look the best that you can/want to, and be comfortable with it.
If people are paying more attention to what you look like than the dance itself, then there is a problem.
