missbananafontana answered Saturday December 29 2007, 8:35 pm: 1. BOARD GAMES- There are actually some good board games that I still like; Monopoly, Clue, Sorry, games like that.
2. IMAGINATION GAMES (4 year old)- Like playing House, Dress Up, Princess, etc.
3. STORIES- This includes reading books, or if you don't have any books, you can be interactive and make up a story, then have each child continue it themself. Like you can start it off: "There once was a little boy named Larry. Larry was a very bad little boy and never did anything that his parents told him. One day, Larry was riding his bike down the road and stopped in the forest next to it. This was a big mistake because..." and let one kid continue it for a little bit, say 5 minutes and then let the next go on.
4. CRAFTS- You can bring a really huge piece of paper to the house and some finger paints and brushes. Then have all the kids paint a mural. When it's dry, you can even hang it with tape in their bedroom. (Always paint on newspaper.) And, if the 12-year-old is a girl, you can make cookies or muffins with her with that Betty Crocker stuff (so it's not too involved).
5. MOVIES- I suggest: "The Incredibles" (I love this movie and never get tired of it), "The Chronicles of Narnia", "Finding Nemo", "Annie", "Ice Age", "Spy Kids", "Flushed Away", "Shrek 2", etc. I actually loved watching movies when I was babysat when I was younger. I really still love some of the movies I saw when I was nine! [ missbananafontana's advice column | Ask missbananafontana A Question ]
